Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS)

A condition characterized by an irresistible urge to move the legs, often accompanied by unpleasant sensations. RLS can make it difficult to fall asleep or stay asleep.

Circadian Rhythm Disorders

A group of disorders in which the body's internal clock is disrupted, leading to sleep problems. This can be caused by shift work, jet lag, or other disruptions to the sleep-wake cycle.

Parasomnias

A group of sleep disorders characterized by abnormal movements or behaviors during sleep, such as sleepwalking or night terrors. These can be caused by genetics, medications, or other medical conditions.

REM Sleep Behavior Disorder (RBD)

A condition in which people act out vivid dreams during REM sleep. This can be caused by medications, brain disorders, or other medical conditions.

Bruxism

A condition characterized by grinding or clenching of teeth during sleep. Bruxism can lead to tooth damage, headaches, and jaw pain.

Sleepwalking

A condition in which a person gets up and walks around while still asleep. Sleepwalking can be caused by genetics, medications, or other medical conditions.

Nightmares

A disturbing dream that causes the person to wake up feeling anxious or scared. Nightmares can be caused by stress, anxiety, or other medical conditions.

Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome (DSPS)

A disorder in which the body's internal clock is delayed, causing the person to fall asleep and wake up later than normal.

Advanced Sleep Phase Syndrome (ASPS)

A disorder in which the body's internal clock is advanced, causing the person to fall asleep and wake up earlier than normal.

Non-24-Hour Sleep-Wake Disorder

A disorder in which the body's internal clock is not synchronized with the 24-hour day, causing the person's sleep-wake cycle to shift later and later each day.

Sleep-related eating disorder (SRED)

A condition in which a person eats during the night while asleep. This can be caused by medications, stress, or other medical conditions.

Sleep-related movement disorders

A group of sleep disorders characterized by involuntary movements during sleep, such as periodic limb movement disorder (PLMD) or restless leg syndrome (RLS).

Hypersomnia

A condition characterized by excessive daytime sleepiness. This can be caused by sleep apnea, narcolepsy, or other medical conditions.

Jet lag

A temporary sleep disorder caused by traveling across time zones. Jet lag can cause difficulty sleeping, fatigue, and other symptoms.
